First impressions...
It has been two weeks since I first entered the ~Paris of the North~ (real original name, guys) and I must say... I'm in love! The city and its surrounding area are gorgeous; wherever you look, you'll see the tall mountains from the neighbouring island Kvaløya and the mainland Tromsdalen. I feel lucky to live at the northern tip of the island, as a beautiful lush forest is just two minutes away from my home (also, people say that it's the best spot in the city to observe the Northern Lights... guess I will spend a lot of time looking at the sky from my window during winter). As for the weather, I could experience the last bits of the Midnight Sun in the first few days. We're finally having real nights now! That only last about an hour but still! I have also had some strong winds and rain which were not so pleasant, but for the most part the weather was pretty good. During a sunny hiking session with friends, we met a cheery Norwegian who told us that we should expect a perpetual gray sky for the next nine months. Don't take the sun for granted, kids.
